I have my bro-in-law's name for Christmas. What is better, a Mora ice drill or the Strikemaster Lazer Hand Auger. I have used a Mora for years, but generally have to replace the blades anually. Do the blades on the Lazer last longer? Thanks! <----<<<

I have had the mora's but they don't compare to the lazer.

Next time you replace your blades on your Mora, upgrade to stainless steel. I did that three years ago, and they are still cutting like they are brand new. Then I had the old hardened steel blades sent in to be sharpenned, for when the stainless get dull.

Hoytshooter, where did you find the stainless blades? I go through enough blades every year to make spending more for a better set a good idea. I haven't had any luck having the dull blades sharpened.

I got my stainless blades at Fishing Memories on Portage Road in Portage. Paul is a pretty good guy, and should be able to help you out.

Hey thanks guys! I stopped and got him the seven inch Lazer. I also picked him up one of those blade sharpeners that look alot like the old broadhead sharpener. Sposed to work on Lazer or Mora blades. Anyone ever use this sharpener with any luck? Good news though, 99.5 percent of the time my bro-in-law goes fishing, we go together :) <----<<<

Thanks for the information Hoytshooter. When I worked in Kalamazoo I used to stop by Fishing Memories on my lunch hour. It's a great shop. If I can't find the blades around Grand Rapids I might have to make a trip down there.

Mike,
No problem, if you haven't been to fishing memories lately, you will be pleasantly surprised. He has a good archery shop, a huge fly fishing section, and just about anything else a guy could use for fishing. He is really growing.

I've never had much luck sharpening my auger blades. I do like the Laser augers. I have two of them.
