If you could choose the perfect size and configuration for a portable 2 person shanty (comfortable, but not spacious) what would it be. What about a 1 man shanty?
I already have a shappell, but am thinking of building one myself.
I bought a Shappel Rover last year (one man)and it can get a little tight. You are limited to shorter rods, but it is light and easy to pull. I usually fish by myself, so I can't help on the 2 man shanties. Chad.

Actually on paper the Rover doesn't look too bad for space (for one). I still can't decide on what to do.
I found a great place that makes custom tarp covers for just about anything. They will custom make a 5 sided box that I can attach to a sled. All I need to do is add a zipper and poles and I am in business.

I have had several shanties. Had all the ones listed above including one man to the bigger ones. My first selection is the Lodge (made by a company in West Michigan - I love it. It is very roomy, fishing in as long as it takes to drill your holes. Next would have to be the Otter Sled which I also have. The two man is really only big enough for one guy. It can be pulled behind quad as can be the Lodge. Next I think the Snowboat, 2 man by Frabil is a very nice unit. Roomy, canvas which doesn't sweet and drip. Email with any questions.

Thanks for the info Skeeter.
My brother has a 5 x 6 clam. It is great for space for two people. Even three is fairly comfortable but that is about the max. I just bought a 6 x 8 clam though because we usually fish with four people and with the 5 x 6 that means someone has to stand out in the cold. If you have something to pull it with and don't mind waiting for thicker ice....I say "the bigger the better"
