Saginaw River 3-2

We started out at Wickes Park. Fished from 6:30 till 8:00 am, moved alot, probably punched 20 holes and never got a hit so we packed up and went down to the outing spot. Talked to TrophyTracker on the radio when we got there he had the same luck as us so far. At 9:00 we began seeing a few fish being caught and the wind started to blow. TrophyTracker called me on the radio to let me know that he had just caught his first Walleye in seven trips up there, a real nice 6 lb'er. Great Fish 'Tracker, now that you've broken the ice hopefully they'll come a little easier. A fella downstream from me pulled a BIG fish 11# +. Big Shooter was that you? If it was then I talked to you right after you caught it. You told me the name of that lure but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. If that was you would you PM me and tell me the name of it again? Thanks! I know it looked like that other " bug " lure. As for me, I was beginning to get a pretty bad smell about me. I even tried my "secret" lure, but nothing. I switched back to a jig and minnow when ,what was that, yes a HIT. After a very good fight and several strong runs I finally landed him. A very nice 4#...............SUCKER! It was a great morning to be on the ice, till the wind blew us off at 11:00. I think I still came home a little smelly though. Oh well, Next time......Patch

yep.....finally killed that skunk today with a nice 6lber,it only took me 7 trips to get one. i didn't know you were there today big shooter but congrats on the awesome fish. did you get her on that lure i saw you buy at gander mt. ? take care trophy tracker.

Ya patcheroo that was me. The lure was called a zounder guide series. I left at 10:15, that 25 mph north wind chased me off also. I'll have to remember my radio next time. Is it chanel 8 everyone uses? Good fishin!

I fished the river on Fri PM down by hooters in saginaw.
Slow evening. Caught one 8" eye and a sheepshead.
Decided to hit the bay on saturday. I'm planning on giving the river another shot later this week.

just for curiousity sake, i caught a 29.5" walleye with an 18.5 inch
girth around it's belly on saturday, i have know idea what that would have weighed. how long was the 11#+ fish you caught Big Shooter. i also caught a 25" and a 19" on sunday. not too far from where all of you were fishing.

Mine did'nt have the large over developed belly full of eggs, It had under developed eggs, was 31" long and an 18" girth. With these pigs I think it all rides on the eggs as far as weight goes. If the big top back finn had'nt been deformed it was going to the wall of my cabin! The lenght of her was unreal! Still it was my bigest walleye to date.It's too late to fix the finn I turned her into walleye McNuggets. Good fishin!
