Houghton lake weekend

Just got in from a succesful weekend up at Houghton Lk. Hey there are walleyes still up there!! Got up there fri. afternoon just in time to head out to my favorite spot...set up around 5:00 pm..left at 7:00 with 3 nice keepers...no little bites ..they were slamming the bait!.....nothing but crappies in the morning....next eve ended up with 4 nice ones....felt like a few years ago when limits were common...hadn't had a weekend like this upthere in a while....sun. a front moved in 1 crappie in the morn...headed home.. Xtremely windy and cold..... will be going up next weekend and staying up there with a buddy till end of season!! Thank god for a understanding wife!!

Nice job HL, I can't get back up there until the middle of May!! I hope that I can put a few in the boat at that time......Glad to hear that some eyes can still be caught, since Magnet lobbied to the Lake Assoc. to put some weeds in the lake....:D

nice to hear of some walleyes being caught up there, I'll be up sometime before the 15th, poss this Fri....I'll look for you out on the ice whenever I do make it up.....

I took the boys up there on Sat. caught a few small perch out a mile from the south DNR launch. I'd saved my spot from this summer on the GPS from bluegills we'd caught in Sept. They weren't there on Sat though. My 5 year old caught a largemouth about 18" on a tipup. His first fish on a tipup and it was quite a thrill for him. no other flags the rest of the day. nice day to be out.

I am going to try to make it up there after March 10th for a few days. Houghton Laker, I would like to get with you and help you catch some of those houghton Lake walleyes. Good luck.

Will be out from my usual location slowpoke, just north of the cut river fishing near the drop off...many shanties and people out there! .. will be up there with a buddy...if you see two fish traps near each other that will be us...I usually pull it with my red honda unless the snow gets deep then i switch over to the snowmobile...my friend just has the snowmobile to tow his with....usually like to split up at first and find out the best spot while conversing on motarolas...I have the GT's they have a different frequency then the regular talk abouts!...If you see us stop by and say Hi!...plenty of room for another fisherman!!..sorry to hear you are done for the winter eyeBuster...will have to get together next winter on some Eyes...Hopefully then there will be a few weeds in the pond!

Thanks for the invitation. I just got back from Sag. River and if the ice stays good I'm thinking of fishing there next week instead of going up to Houghton. If I do go up I will look for you. I will have a fish trap2 and a red atv. Good luck.
