I have heard rumours of peope killing white fish in TC. I have never fished white fish through the ice and would appreciate any pointers, where? how? time of day ect.
Thanks: Mike

Best I've heard of have come off East GT Bay, near the access site off Center Road (on the peninsula) in 150 to 170 FOW. They seem to be biting best on bright sunny days, #7 white Swedish Pimples with salmon eggs or wigglers. Use synthetic no-stretch lines (I like 10# Power Pro) with florocarbon leader (6#). They bite very light. The old saying "In order to catch whitefish, you have set the hook .30 of a second before you feel the bite" isn't far off. Also, remember their mouths are very tender; don't "rip" on the hookset and fight them gently, use a gaf to get them out of the hole. Good luck, hope this helps you out.

P.S. Eat them fresh; once you freeze them, you might as well throw them out.
