Went out to load my gear tonight (thurs) for outing at Z bridge on friday and my laser power auger was gone.Fished a local private lake on wed night and didnt remember loading it in my truck. Went back out tonight(thurs 24 hrs later) found my auger propped up at the fence, like did someone forget this? GOD BLESS AMERICA AND HONEST FISHERMEN!!!

It is a good feeling when an unknown person does something good and honest for you.
Sometimes everyone's faith in mankind needs a little rebuilding.
However I would have left a note and not the auger because the next person by might not of been as honest.
This shows a good reason to have your name and phone number on more than just tipups.
I made a mental note once but forgot where I put it.

i have seen both the good and bad.
i have had guys bring in everything from helmets to cell phones into the shop that were found on the ice. most times we have been able to find the owner.
the flip side, my dad had some tip-ups come out of the back of his snowmobile and a guy picked them up and refused to give them back. even though my dads name and phone number were on the tip-ups he told a friend "finders keepers".
someday we will all have to answer for our actions, i'm glad i'm not that guy.

The reason I went fishing was to try out the auger for friday outing. Just built an adapter to install my 8" hand auger bit.Does it work sweet. The first hole I drilled I stopped half through because I got scared. Thought I was headed for China. Man is it fast.See yas at the z about 2 pm.

It goes both ways though and sometimes it dosnt work out. a few weeks ago I was going out on airport bay I look down and theres a pike spear and a propane bottle. I pick them up and yell to a few guys going around the corner 100' away. And sure enough it was one of theres. He was very happy to get it back. then the same exact day I was leaving loaded up the stauff and look in my rear-view mirror and notice a guy looking at the back of my trailer and he smiled and said something to his buddy. I jumped out and looked and there sitting on the ground was my 6" auger and my spear. He wasn't gonna tell me.
I'm glad you got your stuff back, It makes me happy to see kind hearted people and acts of kindness. I agree you did get lucky though.

yea I think you got real lucky rat city. I had my power auger stolen right out of my basement two years ago along with my bow and a few other things. I think those kind of people are not sportsman at all. I once found a tip-up that someone lost on higgins and the address was in houghton lake and that was on my way home so I droped it of to him. He was pleased.

I could just imagine how you're gut felt when you realized the auger wasn't there.
I also have been on both sides of that coin,, mostly with cell phones and pagers in golf carts.
I always returned them and always had mine returned to me.
Thank God.
