Have the Shappell skis for my 3000 and busted one of the bolts that has the nice finger grip on it. Anybody know where you can contact Shappell? I'd just buy it at a hardware store but if anyone knows about the part I'm talking about, you know it is definitely a specialty part.

Steve,
I'm not familiar with the Shappell you're talking about. But does the bolt just have a flattened oval shaped head instead of a hex head ?

If you head to a Dammans or other well stocked hardware, they have a section in the hardware dept. that is a bunch of slide out drawers. They usually carry LOTS of unusual type fastners in there. I've found lots of unusual type fastners and hardware in those bins.

Good luck !

It's a hex head with a d-ring inserted in it for "easy" hand tightening and removal. A custom part from what I've been told.

Steve,

How do you like the shappell skis. Were they easy to install?

Steve, I work in a machine shop and can make or repair practically anything. If you don't find the part you need e-mail me with dimensions or a photo w/dims. and I would be happy to help you out. Will be fishing Gino's Sat. and Sun. ><> AL:cool:

Deepwoods, those ski's are very easy to install, I did mine last year took all of about 20 min and that was without hurrying

simply drill 10 holes in the right spots, and pop them in Instructions were easy to follow and made it hard to mess them up

Very easy, not very expensive, they work great except for the hex nuts with the D-rings that tend to break.

Thank Steve/Trlfndr. I think I am going to order them right away. I was out yesterday and dragging my shanty through the snow is a hassle. I actually tow it behind my snowmobile but it tends to fill up with the snow coming through the hatches. Pain in the *****.:(
