I am knocking off work in about...oh...24 minutes, gonna grab some bait and head to lake Ovid. Hope to discover some good gills and specks, never been fishing there before. Have been there for a Limnology Class project and found a 12" (yes, we measured it) bluegill washed up at the boat launch in November...hope to find some of his kin...

Well, I dont know what to think, may just be the cold but the fish were slow last night, was there from 4:30 till almost 8pm. Got 3 nice gills and a nice speck (10") and threw back one undersized pumpkinseed. The fish were there but they were just not in a very hungry mood. Every half hour or so, they would bite for about 3-5 minutes and then shut right off again. Got that nice speck right at dusk on a wax worm about 12-18" off bottom, thought a run might start up. After that, nothing. I had a live minnow at the same depth two feet away and no strikes. I changed depths a few times and still nothing. If nothing else I gained some knowledge for next time, which may end up being next season.
