I love those freeze dried strawberries and bluberries. Has anyone ever freeze dried their own ? How do i do it? Not to be confused with dehyrdated, but freeze dried.

Lunker,
As we all know, frozen food, with air around it, dries out (we call it freezer burn). Freeze dried is a process of first freezing the item, then dehydrating it at a below-freezing temperature quickly enough that the flavor is not altered. If you figure out how to do it, let us know.

Tangleknot,
Thanks for the link - it was very interesting. Now I'm wondering if my foodsaver vacuum canister would work to freeze dry foods.
