Mix fillets with potatoes, carrots, onions, lemon, a few chunks of steak and some beef gravy. Slow cook in a crock post for 8 hours. Once cooked, pour contents in a serving dish, throw Muskie fillets in the garbage and enjoy! ;)

Take the 2 fillets, and rub them in melted butter.
Squeeze lemon juice on them.
Sprinkle them with your choice of herbs.
Lay them flat on a piece of Rough Cut White Pine (adds flavor)
Cook in a 250F oven for 35 mins.
Take out, throw musky fillets away, and eat pine board. :D
Take friend, sautee quickly in olive oil, throw away. Find new friend who won't try to poison you with fish that concentrate toxins like a Muskie. I hope he didn't take it from LSC since Dec. 15...........

ESOX, just curious. Why since Dec 15th? :D
IFN lives near Lake St. Clair, the season closed on the 15th.

I've never tried cooking Muskie. I'll look in some other sources to see if any recipies are available.

Three comments on this thread:
1. IFN's original question is very legit. Someone gave him some Musky steaks and he's looking for a recipe.
2. Certainly humor can be a good part of any recipe so long as it is not derogatory.
3. This is a Cooking forum. Any kind of fish or wild-game cooking is open for discussion. This is not the place for debate on catch and release or any other fish or wildlife management objectives.

Gone Fishing,
I have no problem with your post. It is humorous. Humor is good.

Food with "musk" odor is indicator of bad food. Do not eat fish with "musky" odor, taste, or looks. Those fish are for catch & release only.
Those big black diamonds listed next to the species in the DNR's fish consumption advisory are enough to make me want to throw them back. In addition to a myriad of other reasons.

If I was going to eat them, I would smoke them. Hell anything tastes good smoked. I've had smoked Muskie before, not bad
tastes like chicken
Seriously I would heed Esox's warning. They carry a high level of toxins from eating all those suckers. Not only that but they contain an unusually high level of lead from scraping the paint off of so many lures

IFN,
I did some searching on the Internet. Since Muskellunge (Musky) are in the Pike family, the sites that I visited indicated that they can be prepared using any recipe for Pike. As for the heavy metal's and other toxins that they may contain - you'll have to decide that one.
This must set a record for longest thread ever in this forum.... must be winter, the St. Clair Muskie crew is getting antsy. LOL

Thanks SS,,,,
I know that the guys were just razzin me,,,, And I think that if I ever caught one, I probably would release it. Except if it was that HUGE submarine that came through my Ice Hole the other day:D
I never had musky, and was wondering what they taste like. Thanks for the heads up on the contamints Esox, didnt know about them. I dont think that I will mess around with these fillets, its a shame that this fish died and was wasted.....:(

Save it! Use it for catfish bait! Let it rot a little in a plastic ziploc bag. Pit under a bobber and wait for the pike and catfish.

Might want to wrap it cheese cloth before the rotting process, to keep on the hook.:p I bet Lake Sturgeon would like it too!
