Nice day for you and your friend Mike, Congrats!!

How deep was the water where you got the pike, any weed beds...and did you try any tip ups?

I've been on St. Clair ice fishing SO many times and have yet to get a pike. Seems like the North lake at Stoney is the only place I can land one, might have to go back there soon.

I would like to unlock the mystery of the St. Clair pike soon!!

Didn't use tip ups. Got them spearing. 6 FOW, a mile from Salt river and a mile from Cotton rd. Very few weeds laying on the bottom.

Yea, they were froze. Left during the blinding snowstorm. The wind was howling on the way back.

Nice job with the gig!! Did you have a decoy out?? Didn't find a gold kens hook in one did you?? I had one on for about 30 seceonds today before he broke the line. Only real action I had today. I was off of cotten and hiked out to the 2nd crack to see what was out there. 7 1/2'deep and a bunch of sand. Had a couple of dinks come in but no takers. Moved half way back to the pack and punched another hole, more sand. 45 minutes later and no fish, moved back between the 2 permenent shantys and caught about 25 dinks and 3 keepers that I tossed back. Fished there a little over an hour. Only 2 fish on minnows, rest came on a firetiger rapala, tipped with a 3/4" gold chain, and a strip of red ballon on a #16 trebel. Didnt see any hogs this time, but some huge gills swam by, like to hook one and see how big they are.

Anyone fish up at fairhaven today ?????????????

man, them are some nice pike.... maybe thats why the perch are in one minute then gone the next out there..... the guy next to me at metro sunday caught of all things, a big sucker, had a big gash near its tail.... had to be something big to be so ambitious.... this sucker was REALLY large. Might have to break out some tipups next time.

nice work !!!
What did you have for a decoy?

WALLEYE MIKE

Tonga, I used a white wooden decoy amd my buddy uses live shiners. Occasionally I'll also use a small perch for they stay very active for a long time.

Salmonslammer, how far out is the second pressure crack? From my knowledge of the bay, for you to be in 7 1/2 FOW you must have been out about 2-2.5 miles at the least. About to the point going from the Salt R. around to Brandenberg.

We crossed 2 small cracks just out from Cotton. I'm assuming this is the first crack. I launch my 3-wheeler from Selfridge and go along the shore and cross a crack where it isn't so high and continue to Cotton then I head out to the ESE. I think I did see another crack out from where I was. Probably another mile.(heading towards where the B bouy is)

Yea I was out there, not sure how far but it was past the point. Probably a bout 2 miles or so. There was a guy on a quad and another group that was as far out, but they were closer to the point. Took about 35 minutes to hike out there at a prtty good clip. I know there are some weedbeds from fishing in the summer, just cant find them. I guess that I will have to invest in a gps rather shortly. Maybe I can talk the CFO into letting me buy one for my birthday.....might try fairhaven thursday....

WALLEYE MIKE!!
I AM NEW HERE
THATS A NICE CATCH

YOU INDICATED THAT YOU LAUNCH FROM SANG AND GO TO COTTON RD. THATS NORTH RIGHT? AND THEN YOU HEAD ESE OUT TO YOUR FISHING SPOT. ISN'T THAT KIND OF BACK TRACKING A LITTLE? IS THERE A REASON FOR NOT GOING NE FROM SANG TO YOUR SPOT? IS THERE BAD ICE OR A BAD CRACK OR ?

wssfishman, the reason is called 1-2ft. tall ice wall caused from the pressure crack. There are only a couple of spots to cross. Two weeks ago we went northeast and found a spot to cross. On the way back there was a guy pulling out a snowmobile that he said went thru a couple of days earlier. So we followed another 4-wheeler back towards cotton and followed the shore to cross the crack where it wasn't so tall.

Thanks for the info , good reason for the detour.

I use to go out at "LARGOS" buts thats ended now with the big money condos going up. that access is now a gated community. I was wondering if you were familiar with that area and if so what is the name of that creek/river, that flows into the lake at that point? Perhaps If you don't Know, someone else does?

LARGOS by the way is 1/2 mile N of cotton rd. that makes it about 2 mile from sang. a long walk for an old guy. used to catch some nice size crappy in the boat basin.

where did you get those nice pike ,mike? were looking to go tommarrow spearing for a change of pace and any info on some good spots would be helpfull...like how deep and an idea where these buggers are prowling

Most anywhere you go in Anchor bay will produce pike. Fair haven is a good spot along with Selfridge and Cotton rd area. Water depth in these areas are 5-7ft. Perch will come and go and occasionally a pike will wander by. Be careful not to spear Muskies. Thats a no-no.
