View Full Version : Ginos
Just got a phone call, Perchin is good today at Ginos. I don't know if I'd be out there, I tend to stay off the main lake with offshore winds in excess of 20 MPH. .........besides I'm working.

can you still park at the bar ? are they walking or taking quads? sorry for the multi questions but im sure your as bored at work as I am
I know Ginos is under new ownership, I'm not sure if they are still letting people park there or not. I am sure someone will have an answer to that. My buddy is parked at the Spillways Ramp.

Just got back from there, fished from 12:00 hrs~18:00 hrs. pulled a dozen 9~12 inchers, with one that will go at least 14~14.5in., that one came twards evening, on minnos,6~12in. off bottom, went out SSE,tryed too get a compas reading, but not too sure of it, lined up with Ginos, and the St.Clair light, could actualy see it, went out to the pile ice, it took us .45 min.to walk out there, their were only 4 others out there, all had shanties, which was a two man opperation,to set up, eye did see 400 plus pounds of fishermen go for a ride in a 4 man shappel, there were two of them, round and round they went, for abought 150yds. before they stoped, all were ok, tho looking for a little dog, and Kansas, ice anchors ?? who wood of though of it ?? a friend of minds pounded them their yesterday from 15:00hrs~16:30hrs.,47 fish between two of them in 1.5 hrs, work, a labor of love, well that it, hope it helpes , fish on, fish on, Jumbo.
Thanks Jumbo. Welcome to the site. The shanty ride wouldn't bother me nearly as much as a flow ride would. I dont think there is too much a chance of that with the cold nights we have been having, but I wouldn't go out past the third pressure crack on a bet in 25 MPH offshore winds.

I can relate to the shanty blowing across the ice issue. My went for about 1/2 mile several years ago at metro. Luckly the wind was blowing in from the SE. So the shanty, with the heater still going, with all gear, crashed into the beach. Luckly snow blew in from the floor of the shanty and put the heater out. I thought it was going to blow up. I tend to think twice now when setting up the shanty on windy days with anchors.
And here I thought an Ice flow was the only way to troll!!!??? I have mentioned to my buddy about getting some ice anchors (He just bought a shanty this year). When I see him finally using them, I'll know something happened.
