Hi, I live down here in Ohio. My family and I used to go to a lake up in Michigan and I need to know how to get to it.

Now, from Columbus it took us about 5-6 hours to get to(I think?)
It was called Cold water lake. From what I understood there are a lot of lakes up there called that? This is a fairly small lake with homes all around it. (I was young and didn't pay attention to directions, so I'll give yah everything I can remember:rolleyes:  ) I guess there was some sort of casino within an hour away. There's a really narrow creek coming off of the west side of the lake.

This was where my step dads parents had a little cabin/weekend home on the lake. Anyone know of someone by the last name of Thelen?

Pretty vague description, I know.........any ideas would be great!;)

Theres one in Branch county, and one in Isabella county. Both have tributaries.

Try searching for "Coldwater Lake" here: http://www.mytopo.com/search.cfm

See if either of them look like the one!

It is the one in Isabella county. Now say I'm coming up rt. 23, can you tell me how I would get there?

Thanks again, that was very helpful!

I got the info about the town from those topo maps, Beal city is the closest one I could see, Yahoo maps don't always give the best directions, some times they will send you back roads, get a mi Map and look at it to take x ways most of the way, I think yahoo also has the best way and not just the shortest

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Have any of you fished this lake? I've caught huge carp, nice pike, walleye and smallies out of there. This was just fishing from the dock with nightcrawlers and large minnows.

I just looked at My Mich Map, Beal city is about 20 Miles west of Mt pleasant which has a casino so it must be the right place

The fishing can be great here at times but be aware that you may not be able to launch your boat due to low water levels (depending on the size of your boat).
Try fishing the sunken humps and near the outlet on the South end, the river inlet on the Northwest, the rockpiles on the Northeast, and definitely try trolling cranks at the public beach after dark. At least for wallys.
