Hello fellow freezing fisherpeople...
Has anybody heard of or fished Doc and Tom Lake? It is just southeast of Lake George. Apparently it is a private lake and I have been invited to fish it this weekend with some friends. Being private, I haven't been able to find any kind of topo or structure maps. The guys I am going with have only fished it a couple of times and in limited spots. I was hoping to be able to go and "show" them where the fish are...LOL
Any help sure would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Realtorman,
Dave

Can't help you there. Keep in mind that the contours you see on shore are generally continued underwater. I.E. a steep shoreline usually means a steep dropoff. Points continue under the lake etc.
Good luck.

Thanks Esox,
That is always the first thing I do when I get to a lake I am not familiar with. I also look at the soils at the boat launches if they aren't paved to find gravel, sand, clay and such. I am assuming that it will have a quite a bit of sand, however my frind told me that years and years and years ago somebody flooded a creek to form this lake. Probably some developer! LOL So, that would lead me to believe that there is a channel and probably alot of structure (trees, logs and such). Guess I will just have to go on assumptions this time and drill ALOT of holes:( Thanks for the tip though!
Med123...trust meif I had any control of the situation, I would invite everybody!!!

Thanks again,
Realtorman,
Dave

Private ?? maybe but lots of locals fish it . Sorry bout that ,but there is alot of so called private lakes in this area. Well to answer your question , I have only fished it a half a dozen times times, and only thru the ice twice, there are lots of sub legal pike, and some trophys. It is a flooded creekbed, so there is lots of structure such as stumps and old channels. Otherwise as far as fish ,there are some nice gills with some sorting as is par for most of the lakes in the area. GOOD LUCK I'm sure you will at least have some action

i'd say if it was privet you would not need a map because there are fish everwhere in the lake.

Thanks Outsider,
I appreciate the input! What you told me is what I was hoping for. I am not a big pike guy, but what the heck...I can drop a tip-up for some action.

TPR...I sure hope that is the case! I have had a terrible year of ice fishing. Any action is better than "no-action"!

Thanks again guys,

Dave
