How has the walleye bite on the Saginaw River been? Any tips? Also, is it a morning bite, or is it fairly steady all day? Any lure info for me?

i would be careful after all the rain & high winds
ice may be perfectly safe
but if if you go under
the scuba squad will find ya
maybe
swift current
feed line through heavy bottem walker sinker
tie hook on with or with out split shot
or pin a float ya know the cheap ones that
come with a tooth pick
with these setups you can get it down there
and put it right on bottem or off bottem depending how ya rig it
plus you can freely let line out or reel it back in
ie covering more of a strike zone
and the fish is just picking up the minnie
and not a 1/2 to 3/4 oz of lead
also try leaches, cralwers blown up with a needle
maybe even canned corn
call me nuts but it works for me

The best time to fish is from sun up until about 10 a.m. Then again from about 2 in the afternoon until 6. I personally have never fished during mid day on the river but I have heard reports of people getting fish in the afternoon hours. Do-jiggers, Swedish pimples, Jiggin Raps, and Lead head jigs are the baits of choice.

How about lure colors and sizes? (specifically for jigging raps) what works out there?

So far this year a blue/sliver or black/sliver jigging rap in sizes 5 or 7 has been producing really good. Remember to put a stinger hook on it and put a new treble hook one size bigger on it too.

My favorite all time lure on the saginaw is a 3/8 oz. leadhead jig. Pearl in color. Tipped with a minnow and a stinger hook. I would say the best time for me has been in the morning then in the evening.
