Hello all,
I'm new to the forum, just wanted to say hey, and ask for a little assistance. I started fishing the bay last weekend for the first time. I saw a few fish taken and had one strike of my own on the second stress crack out from Linwood. I just need help with my rig. I used a jiggin Rapala tipped with a minnow. Should I not use a minnow? Any help on this method or other proven methods in the bay would be greatly appreciated.

May your shanties be warm and your coolers full,
GUS

Hi Gus, welcome to the site. you'll like it here as most members are quite helpful. As to your question, alot of guys use just a minnow head, then again some put minnows on every hook. Then others cut the end hooks off cause they hang up in the hole when trying to ice the eyes they've caught. Some change the treble hook to a larger size, and use stinger hooks, and a whole minnow. Just keep trying different things. You'll find something that works for you, then tell the nice people here on the forum what it is so they can try it.

hey gus welcome. i usually have my best luck on little cleos medium size. and i replace the hooks with new eagle claw triple hooks.i also use lead heads. and had good luck last week with a rattle spoon.just experiment with different lures and jigging techniques and youll come up with your own favorites.just dont get in the habit of using the same thing all the time mix it up a little. good luck buckslayermichigan

I agree , Spoons have been working well for us . When I'm up in the river I'll use a rapala but out on the bay spoon produce.

Try glow lead heads with a minnow. Be sure to use a stinger hook. That was the ticket for us this past weekend
