I live on 5 mile and Ridge, never seen a pond near 275-Where is it in relation to the expressway? Maybe I'll try it.I'll clue you into a few spots near me also if you would like, since I'm assuming you live in the area.

Chilson pond is out near HAMBURG, off Brighton rd.
No where near 5 mile OR 275, its west of US-23, and east of I-96

zman, funny you should bring up Chilson Pond, I JUST said somethin to my fishin buddy this weekend about that place.
Its tough to fish, you gotta do alot of movin, its been afew seasons since I've been there, but I don't ever remember throwing back a gill that was to small.
The gills in there are flat out PIGS! Rarely would we pull one out that wasn't 8 inches +.
We used to get out there at daylight and fish in about 2 and a half foot of water. But just like a light switch they would turn off at 10 or 1030am.
Never caught anything but gills there, my buddy caught about a 13 inch perch outta there ONCE! Other than that striaght gills.
That Pond gets hardly any fishing pressure also.

I fly fish all the time there in the summer. Tons of gills, some small pike. If you want to find the pike you need to go to the second half of the pond (I guess that is what you would call it) If you find a map there is a small channel and another pond just north of the one you can easily see. That area is loaded with pike, but you usually have to have a belly boat or something to fish it. Also the area straight across from the old swimming beach against the shore usually seems to be pretty productive for me. Have fun!

np problem shane. But like they guys said it is no where near 275. It is in the pinckney rec area. There are also a couple of other small lakes within a mile of it that are pretty good for pan fish. Appleton lake and Bishop lake. If you need directions PM me and I can help you out.

Going to Bishop in the afternoon tomorrow, Jetwrench. Any suggestions where to look? Nearest baitshop (with wigglers)? I/m coming from downriver Detroit - best way to get there? Thanks. Looking forward to using my first ever power auger! Always relied on other guys with them before.

As far as my luck, I have always had it wading the east end of the lake. It never gets really deep there ( I could be wrong about this). You will have a blast there since it never seems to get much pressure. I do not know about bait shops in the area, I just always bring mine from the local shop.
I am also coming from the same area as you, so I usually take 94 to 23 to 96...exit 147. this will be brighton road eventually. just follow it for a few miles and you will hit chilson road ( there is a big party store to the right) Turn left..go down about a mile or two. Bishop and appleton are to your left... chilson is to your right. Good luck

Ya know that party store used to sell bait and tackle.
It was like a mini- Holdens. If I remember correctly, they used to have some pretty outta the way stuff in there.
The kinda stuff ya haven't seen in years, and wonder why ya don't see it anymore, that kinda stuff!

That party store is called Vic & Bobs. They don't sell minnows anymore. I don't know about wigglers and waxworms. They still sell tear drops and stuff like that. There aren't a lot of stores that sell bait right there. There is one at Gr. River and Old U.S.-23 in Brighton called Midwest Sports. They have just about everything.
