Lsc/whats Happen

OK,I DON'T PROFESS TO BE THE ULTIMATE ANGLER,BUT,,,,,
I DO MANAGE TO CATCH FISH. THIS YEAR ON THE LSC HAS BEEN VERY UNPRODUCTIVE FOR ME,I;VE FISHED THEM HARD,WASN'T LIKE I WENT OUT ON THE WEEKEND ONCE OR TWICE,BEEN SALLOW,BEEN DEEP,BEEN ALL UP AND DOWN THE LAKE WITH THE SAME RESULTS,(VERY FEW) TELL ME I HAVEN'T LOST MY TOUCH?
IS THERE ANY ONE OUT THERE WHO CAN RELATE TO MY STORY? :confused:

During that extended cold spell things were somewhat less than great. Fish were certainly cooperative yesterday, and they are probably biting like crazy today. Of course, I'm at work.....

Yesterday, 2/2 was probably the worst day of the year for myself out on LSC, i think it has to do alot with the traffic, noise, and thousands of shanty's out there, oh well, I will try sometime during the week.

I tried Metro on Saturday afternoon....straight out from the 'jet ski' launch. Lots of people out there and most were further out than usual. Managed to catch one dink perch between 3 of us, over an hours time. It seemed like most of the people moved from deep to shallow while we were out there. The few people I talked to said things were slow to non-existent.

I'm new to the board...just stumbled acrossed it yesterday. This is a great board without all the crap that's on the other ones out there.

I have been reading tons of reports on other sites that say no one is catching much. Now, I'm not claiming that I am doing very well, but, everytime I go out, I end up in the back basin at Metro and usually at least leave with an average of about 10-15 keepers in the 8-10" range. It takes alot of patience with all the dinks out there but I can usually get a small meal out of it. I would say I probably catch a total of 50-60 but most of them are small. Also, since the lake finally froze there is ALOT LESS traffic in the basin and marinas.
But, I do agree that this year has been pretty slow.
Haven't hit a school full of jumbos in a long time.

Ya know, I used to laugh when I saw those people fishing in the marinas @ Metro.

Then last year, right after ice out, I started fishin the docks there.
I hammered the JUMBOS right off the docks!

I still see people in there, I wonder if they get them like that right now?

Another quick question: Why is the canadian side of LSC so much better than our side?

I managed 5 fish 11-12" saturday from a private canal in st clair shores. I had to spear 3 of them because they just would not hit anything. They were absolute pigs. When i cleaned them, they were stuffed with small shad and bluegills. One even had a 3" largermouth with some other junk in her belly.
I also speared a nice Pike that had 9 shad in it. In this case, they weren't aggresive because they were already full.

I was also wondering why the canadian side is so much better. I have been over there a few times ,and we have slammed the jumbos, it didn't even seem to matter whether we were a mile out or 7 miles out we still caught fish. I have never fished the american side though, but with the reports I here from the American side I don't know if I ever will. How far out can you go on the American side? At mitchells bay I have been out 7 miles ,and I know some other guy's who claim to have been out 10.

The only thing I see different on the Canadian side that is different from the American side is traffic. I also believe that our side of the lake isn't as settled as the Canadian side. Whatever the case may be, they sure do like the Canadian side more. With respects to the fishing conditions this year, I too have not had as much success as I have had in the past. Last trip on the ice was out at DNR on South River Road. Did a late Saturday and early Sunday fish. NOT A BITE. Didn't even see a thing. Very discouraging. Oh well, will give it my best this weekend.

Here is a suggestion that may just change your thoughts!!

Water is extremely clean,, perch can see pretty good,, how heavy is the line you are using?? and are you using any type of spreader or tying your hooks directly to the line?? It makes a difference!!

Hey C H,
I use Trilene Sensi-Thin/ Ultra clear, I have it in 2 and 4 lb. test. I tie straight to the jig or whatever I'm using.

Are you talking about a perch spreader?

I ' ve tried them before with minimal luck.
