Went ice fishing on Lake St. Clair yesterday for the first time in many years. Started out from a friends house south of the spillway walked out about 100 yards to an area where the ice was bunched up. My plan was to cross this and keep going. What I did was to promptly break through the ice. Lucky for me it was less than three feet deep. I finally found an area to cross, continued out to the next area where the ice bunched up. I did not want to cross that so I drilled a hole and started fishing.
The water was still only 3-4 ft deep. In the summer it was 6 feet easily. No sign of fish. so we moved up to Selfridge. Tons of people. Fished for an hour or so there. No sign of fish anywhere. Nobody that I talked to had caught anything.
This is my usual luck at ice fishing. This is probably my tenth time ice fishing in my life. I dont think I have ever caught more than a fish or two. Oh well, I'm not giving up. I'll try it again one day this week
