View Full Version : help finding the Atlantis drop cam??

I have decided that I am returning the camera that I put together via Radio Shack and e-bay due to it fogging in the cold water. Besides, the price on the drop cam ($199) is too close to put my own together, with less than $50 difference.

I know a lot of you guys have been to different Meijers, etc. and mentioned the stores that have them however the Meijers down here in the Toledo area do not carry them (and hardly any IF stuff). I'd love some info on which Meijers have them in hopes of finding the closest location to Toledo or even a store on the way up to LSC via 23 or 75 to 94. Obviously another store would also work and may be preferrable as Meijers has apparently been speaking with a forked tongue to members here! (I mentioned on another post that we should even consider a boycott unless they advertise and suport this site since we sure as heck seem to be giving them free advertising here and a lot of business.)

Cabela's does not have them ("we never heard of that one, is it brand new?") and tried to steer me to the Aqua-Vu because "the camera is a lot better". When questioned, the only way it was better was that the cable mount is supposed to be sturdier. That's not a problem as I would be setting it up to alleviate pressure there anyhow.

BPS is too far (I wish they and Cabeal's loactions were reversed!). Dick's and Gander in Toledo do not carry them either. Must be the profit margin isn't enough and they think you'll buy a higher priced model. Think again folks!

Any help would be appreciated!

Tom

Tom,

ALL of the Meijers in the Northern suburbs of Detroit that I've been to have them. If you're coming up to LSC, it isn't that far west to head to the Meijer on M-59 and Hayes rd. (Utica I think) They had several when I was there the other day. If you come up I-94 to M-59 and head West it's only about 4-5 miles I think to Hayes. Then you could just head back East and take M-59 to the end and fish "Selfridge" or "Cotton Rd".

Good luck

Here's an update !!!

I just watched the "Murray's Money Savers" on Fox 2 News.

TOMORROW ONLY (2-1-03) from 6:00 a.m. til midnight - take and extra 10% off ANYTHING YOU CAN GET IN THE CART !!!

That would make the Atlantis only $180 !! He said the extra 10% even applies to clearance items. I know that there's not much left in the way of icefishing stuff but there might be SOMETHING left worth picking up.

Tom,

"Murrays" is a segment on the local 5:00 news. He shops around and notifies us of local sales and "good buys". There is another Meijer on 23 mile rd in Chesterfield Twp. That is just about 3 mile N. of the M-59 and i-94 interchange. It might be worth a call to these stores to see if they have any in stock. I'm almost sure they do. Like I said, if you do it TOMORROW 2/01 you can take an extra 10% off. :)

Thanks Jpollman!! I'm there in the AM if they have one when I call! From there I'll probably head to Selfridge....any advice on baitshops? (i usually go to Lakeside but their minnows and bait seem to run high! One heck of a baitshop though!

Thanks again all!

Tom,

I don't normally icefish out that way but I would think that Lakeside would be your best bet.

I think that the Utica or Chesterfield Meijers will be your best bet. They are both about the same distance from Selfridge. Go to the meijers web site and get their phone numbers. I'd be willing to bet that at lease ONE of those stores will have an Atlantis.

Good luck on the cam AND the fishing !

Be safe out there.

There are probably Meijer's in the area of Monroe but not farther north is Woodhaven, Southgate and Taylor. All have them and are an hour at most from Toledo.
