Not all Meijer stores will honor the 50% off prices
Stopped in at the Meijer on M-43 in Lansing today. They didn't have any of their ice fishing gear at 50% off. I talked with their store director and told them about other stores in Michigan having their 50% off sale and he agreed to the price. In the few short minutes it took me to walk back to the sporting goods aisle I was told by the sporting goods manager that they would not honor the 50% off and would not call corporate to see if they would ok that price. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with this double talk and wanted to let my fellow ice fisherman be aware of this policy.

Turns out you're right on that one. Went to the Meijer in Cadillac and the sporting goods manager said no. His arm was twisted into selling us a couple of shanties at half-off, but that was only because a store manager from Grandville had told us they would. But the Cadillac manager would not budge on anything else. Later that night I emailed Meijer corporate to see what the deal was, and they simply forwarded my message to the Cadillac store manager who again said they wouldn't do it. They DID, however, tell me that ALL stores south of Greenville were on clearance. Seems to me a Lansing store would fall into that category! Not sure what the ramifications would be of purchasing items at full price, then taking your reciepts to a store with stuff on clearance and getting your money back (?).. I believe I read somewhere on the previous thread that someone had done that. I would definitely say you should call first, given that the policy seems to change from store to store.

That kinda "management" and the fact , if it's on sale , it's outta stock.....

You won't have to worry about it for much longer. I went into my local store this morning and the guy was starting to pack it all away. I grabbed about a dozen jigs and a pole and took off. I'll always go to Meijer for clearance lures, archery, etc., but you'll never see me paying their retail for the same. Dunham's or Gander are usually much more reasonable.
