Started fishing about 3:00 in the afternoon, straight out from the boat launch. Had a minnow on a Swedish pimple and the perch showed up allmost withing minutes. They wouldn't hit the minnow. I dropped down a tear drop jig with waxworm and started getting hits.
I had to watch the fish through the hole because they were biting so lite. A few of the bigger perch would lazily attempt to suck in the wax worm so I switched to the smallest jig I had. Big difference. The smaller jig made it easier for them to suck in the wax worm and hook-ups increased dramatically.
One thing I noticed, if I went 5 or 10 minutes without seeing a perch I would raise the minnow on the swedish pimple about half way up and jig it back down slowly. That would bring the perch in but they still ended up hitting the wax worm. Cought only 2 fish on the minnow.
Saw lots of good sized perch and lost one jumbo that was probably 13".
Ended up taking 39 perch home. Largest was 11". Average size was 8 to 9 " and there were 5 or 6 that I probably should have thrown back.
