I'd like to get some views (pun intended) on cams! I am looking at the Atlantis "drop cam" for $199. Has anyone seen the different systems side by side? I have to wonder if the "Cadillac" priced ones are that much better. I don't need all the bells and whistles and wonder if that's the biggest difference. I can make do with a Chevy if the biggest difference is the options not the picture.
BTW, I bought a cam from a dealer who has some on e-bay.....billed as an underwater cam but without being nitrogen filled or insulated with rubber or a pvc housing the damn thing fogs up. Previous to the fogging the pic was great. The first thing I saw was a pike and it seemed surreal......like the picture came with the cam....like a picture of a babe in a new wallet!

Well I have the "cadillac" atlantis:D I have seen the sport atlantis in the stores. I think the only differances are a smaller screen and I think you only get 50' of cable. but if you don't plan on fishing deeper then that should work fine.
hope this helps.

We have a Vista-cam. Brought from Cabela's last year, don't know if its still available. It's got twice the screen size of an Aqua-view and we love it!!!!!!!

Yes I have a problem with that! :-) My wife never buys me a cool and expensive gift like that! I mus be doing something wrong! Guess I better reread the manual....or invest in some vitamin V! Maybe in the throes of passion I can sublimally associate buying me stuff with her multiple orgasms!!
As for Gary Roach....I have little faith in the endorsement of anyone who gets their stuff for free and is probably paid to endorse the product.
That doesn't mean it's not a great system but that I'd rather rely on the endorsement of regular fisherman like on this site! They would have little reason to hype something! While I know little about Roach I am turned off by the fishin whores like Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston! "Look at that 8lb bass on my Stren line on my Berkely rod with a Shimano reel...hey camera guy...pan over the front of the boat where I have boxes of products laid out so the suckers can see what I want them to buy!"
Just my opinion....trust your friends not your salesmen!!

I bought an Atlantis 2 1/2 years ago and I've used it about a dozen times. It's great for ice fishing and nice for getting a quick glance at the walleye as you float downstream, but I wasn't $300 worth of impressed. I was hoping I could connect it to my downriggers to watch a big salmon slam my spoons, but the turbulence caused by the camera ruined the picture. In clear water it's great, but I'd never buy one again. It doesn't make me feel any better knowing the fish are there and I still can't catch one.

i hook my aqua-vu up to the downrigger and it woks out pretty good but it is kind of a hassle.

catfishtom210 , I totally agree on the "fishin' hO's" 100%
Gary Roach is a good guy , but I'm sure prone to 'bending over' for free stuff.....
As for my wife...multiple orgasms are a bonus , but one great big huge one - is all that is required!!!
lmao........
Seriously , my wife is great - and she has a love for the outdoors and knows that a toy/tool is something I enjoy , even if the
$350 could have been spent more practically....
I really like the camera - and after about 25 yrs. of using SONAR it has shown me a few things I didn't know , as well as show me fish biting that NEVER show up on the spring bobber....
:p
My wife always buy me KooL gifts , regardless of the price.... I got a .45 cal muzzle loader for Xmas this year - in years gone by....well...my Eagle GPS was a gift too....;)
