Young Republican

A young man was hitchhiking across Texas on his way from Boston to L.A. A businessman in a Buick picked him up and they drove along talking about weather, crops, sports, and politics. After a while the businessman asked, "You're a Republican, aren't you?" The youth replied, "No, I'm a Democrat." The businessman slammed on his brakes, flung open the door, and threw the hitchhiker into the ditch, screaming "No #@%&! Democrat is going to ride in my car!" and sped off.

A few hours later, a kindly old farmer in a hay truck picked up the hitchhikder. They drove along talking about weather, crops, sports, and politics. Without thinking, the youth mentioned that he was a Democrat. The same thing happened again. The farmer slammed on the brakes, kicked the door open, pitched the hitchhiker headlong into the ditch, and roared off screaming "No #@%&! Democrat is going to ride in my truck!"

It was late afternoon when a blonde in a pink sweater driving a red Corvette picked up the hitchhiker. They drove along talking about weather, crops, sports, and politics. She asked the hitchhiker his party affiliation and this time he was careful to say he was a Republican. "Thats good," the blonde said, "because I wouldn't let a #@%&! Democrat ride in my car."

The young man replied, "Oh, I'm a Republican alright." A little later she noticed the hitchhiker was fidgeting and asked him what was wrong. The young man said, "You know, I've been a Republican for only ten minutes, and I already want to screw somebody!"
