I will be out there saturday from sunup to suset. Has anyone one fished it recently?? I've heard they were slayin' the eye, but also heard the pressure crack opened up a couple days ago, does anyone know if the ice blew out???? I never fished it, so do you use just the usual????? A jiggin' rapala tipped /w a shiner, or a swedish pimple tipped w/ a shiner, and do you fish off stoney point in erie, or out to stoney point in the bay, i know to fish in 12-14 feet of water, but need sopme kind of land mark to go out to. I'll be on channel 8-1 if you're out on the ice!!!!!!!;)

Talked to Brest Bay Marina today about access. The're gates open at 8:30 for fishermen going out on the bay. The bait shop opens at 9:00 for minnows and coffee. Said the gates close at 5:30 and will open automatically when you drive up to the gate.
Said walleyes and perch are pickin' up.
P.S. Let your old man catch the lunker Saturday!!!

Can you walk to good fishing on Brest Bay or do you need a machine? If the perch are hitting I'm thinking about going. I need some perch in my belly!

I was at Cabela's today getting bait for Lake Chemung and the kid waiting the counter told me he and his co-workers have been knocking the walleye dead with swedish pimples (#7) at Breast Bay. I took a ride out there to see what was up, so many mixed stories about the pressure crack and open ice. I took I75 to exit 15 Dixie Hwy and went up to breast bay road and parked at the marina. From the marina you could see a shanty village around 1.5 to 2 miles out near the point. The entrance from the marina is a rock pile that you have to climb down. This will make pulling the sled and all the gear a true challenge. I also am not sure of the ice conditions between the marina and the point so I will have to spud it all the way unless others who know the ice are there at 6:30AM when I hit the ice. If anyone here has fished that area I would like to know if there is a better way to get to the point where every one is fishing. One thing for sure, if I can safely get there I will and I will post the days action here. I will have my shanty, FL-18, Minnows, Waxworms, plenty of poles and tackle, Mr. Heater and my girlfriends 21 and 6 year old boys with me. We have the whole day to fish and will take provisions to get us thru the day. If there out there we will get them, hope to be posting good news tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!
See ya on the lake,
Richard.

Lost_Peninsula,
I'm seriously thinking about fishing Brest Bay Saturday. I wish there was some easier access. I have a shanty and gear and will be by myself.
Anyone want to give it a try with me? I could use a partner especially if I hae to carry my stuff down some rocks.
Anyone elso know of a better or easier access point?

I'm going to plan on being there around 8:30am because I don't know what I'm doing or going. I'll be in a White Dodge Pickup.

Hunt, Im new to the area as far as ice goes too. I fish it in my boat in the early spring. I am going early and gonna play seagull. Follow the crowd from the bait shop and do what they do. If I can help you in any way will be glad to. If we have to climb down rocks me and Brett can carry your gear down. If we
need to bring a sled I have an old John Deer that I have been using for years. I could always run out, drop my gear off and send Brett back to pull you well I set up camp.
Let me know........
Richard.

I just may take you up on that. I'm not sure what time I will get out there, probably not until 8:00 or 8:30. If I'm running early I'm going to hit Cabela's for bait, it not I'll get it at the marina.
I'll have my radio, channel 8, and my GPS. If I get into some fish I will send you the numbers. I may call for the ride depending on the walk!

The climb down to the ice is not bad. I'm going out to the bay for the evening bit. Its about a 1.5 walk to 14-16 feet of water from the marina. I heard ice is not too bad out that far.

Hunt, Brett just came home from work and backed out of Saturday, says he is in for Sunday. I would say by the amount of time he spent in the shower, the fishing was good at his work today and he caught himself a waitress. Ah to be young again, no thanks. Looks like its gonna be a 8:30 start for me too. Gives me time to go to work, borrow a pick up truck, come home load it and scoot out. If you see a grey ford f-150 with a green John Deer snowobile and home made (pipe) sled its me. We could always pull you out on our sled, unhook and you could take the Deer back and get your stuff. Where theres a will theres a way. I will listen for you on channel 8.
Richard.
