I'm taking my 10 year old son ice fishing saturday morning on Cass Lake. Any reports or sugestions.
Would like to catch Walleye but any (eatine size) fish will make for a fun time.

I've herd the small bay across from Mitch's restaurant has produced a few walleye at dawn and dusk. Just out from the marina docks. Also a few pan fish.
Good luck!:D

I'm not very familiar with the area. Would that be near Dodge Park #4 ?

I think it may be north of there. It's on the very north side of the lake. I think it's Cass Lake road and Elizabeth Lake road? Cass lake marina I believe?

fished cass earlier this wk, out of dodge 4 park, both out in the lake and up into gut bay. My suggestion if your with your son would be to go to the bay in the 20fow area where it narrows down off the launch for gills....keeps the kids interested. The walleye would be like deer huntin, set all day to see one, not good for kids.....but hey have fun and remember the most important thing is your getting out with the boy...enjoy.

Thank you for the suggestions. Just thought I would give the results of our Cass Lake excursion in case anybody is interested.
We went out from the boat docks in Dodge Park #4. We were on the water/ice by about 7:30am. We fished hard and tried many different areas and depths and many different baits but never did locate any fish.
As you said glowingbarrel, my main purpose was to get my son on some fish and fun was the main purpose of the trip and even though we didn't get any fish, he went ice skating, we explored, we drank hot chocolate, and we had fun.
Mission Accomplished I'd say....
Maybe the fish will be more cooperative the next time.
