Anyone have any info they are willing to share about Croton Pond? I'm fairly new to the area and have never fished the lake before. So I also need access points as well. Would like info on Specks, perch and walleyes.

TIA,
Ed:confused:

Stop by Jack's Bait store(not sure of the official name) in Croton near the dam across from the fire barn. He has live bait and honest reports and he could tell you exact spots. I vaguely know of a couple but if you park by the county beach on the causeway and walk around the point (Little Muskegon Side) towards the two islands to the east I know guys do ok around there. Look for shantys and follow their tracks out there. It's a long walk and you might be able to park near the Driftwood Bar and walk in from there but I don't know for sure. Good Luck and I'm hoping to get out there soon myself.

We were out there this past Sunday and didn't get anything but a couple of nibbles. Everyone that was out there said the same. However Jack (I guess that is his name, the guy at the bait shop in Croton) said perch have been doing well so maybe it was just an off day. I do know the Sunday before there were a ton of people out on the ice (I just saw em, wasn't fishin) so again it may have just been an off day.
We parked right by the playground of the park (on the North side of the dam, West side of the Rd). To get on the ice you will find a spot between the end of the guardrail and the bushes. There is/was a rope there you can use to lower your gear and yourself because the hill is steep.

Croton Pond has a good supply of perch and crappie, I fished it twice this year and caught 50 to 60 perch each time out. The proplem is there are a lot of small fish present nad you have to move around to find the bigger ones, I took home 20 to 25 nice fish each time out. We were fishing by the small Island with a shack on it on the little muskegon side of the dam in 15 to 20 foot of water. In past years we have caught nice perch and crappie on the big side of the dam in front of the trailer park just over the causeway, when the ice is safe enough to get on, the park keeps there gate open and there is some parking inside of the park. We park close to the boat launch and go out to 30 to 40 ft of water. You have to move to find fish, don't just drill a hole and fish for hours and say the fish aren't biting, they are there you just have to find them, a flasher would be helpful, I don't use one but I don't fish a hole more than 5 minutes if I don't catch fish.Parking also just over the cause way to get on both sides. Good luck !!!!!
