Not sure if anyone ehre was out near Cotton Road today, but I was surprised when I went out this morning, I saw beer cans all over certain spots, empty propane tanks and a whole bunch more garbage---

Why dont't people take their crap with them, I mean come on the ice melts and the crap remains in the Lake

not a big surprise... if you see some refuse on the ice, plz be better than the next man and pick it up.... remember a few years back when they closed off the cotton road access?? would hate to see it done again because of the acts of a few jerks.

People like that shouldn't be allowed to breed. If you have room to pack it in then you must have room to pack it out. What a bunch of jerks!!!...Patch

There were a few bottles scattered around Chemung on Wed., i was planning on getting them when we left but forgot. Bummer i hope one of the others did. We need to keep our world clean.

Oh yeah, I've already filled my sled with propane tanks, empty packs of smokes, empty beers, bait containers, packaging from lures and line, and a couple of broken chairs.

This is from a pond that gets little traffic.

Anybody who picks up litter is topnotch in my book and I am sure there is alot of guys who do. Those little propane bottles really piss me off and just think those idoits are probably teaching these nasty habits to thier offspring. shouldn't be allowed to breed indeed.

If you bring it on the ice, take it off the ice.

I remember my old man always taking a net with us to go sucker fishing in the spring. Imagine, a net for those damn suckers! We never used it to net many suckers but it was always full of trash from the bank when we left. My kids and I do the same thing now. I guess old habits are hard to break!

There is more to being a "sportsman" than catching fish.

just filled the back of the jeep up yesterday with propane bottles and beer cans. i would hate to see these peoples houses.
if you want to mark your spot take a five gallon bucket and fill it with snow and then flip it over. don't pack the snow too much as it could freeze and if someone ran over it cause some major damage.

on the stream fishing thing. i take a empty onion bag with me anytime i'm on a stream. it's light weight and hold a lot of garbage.

face it, we live in a world full of uneducated hoi polloi scumbags

this is a great example of why EVERYTHING should be privately owned, including lakes and rivers. when you own something, it is in your best interest to preserve it....and when its public property all you get is destruction because everyone "owns" it, yet its "not mine", so who cares, someone else will clean it up

by the way, with all the fees the DNR is collecting, does it seem reasonable that they might hire a few $20/hr garbage pickers?

correct me if im wrong, but on the roadsides around the state we see "$500 fine for littering" signs....the DNR knows theres slobs out on the ice...........

Unfortunately they probably clean house the way they cleaned the ice, and ownership would make them feel further entitled to do as they please.

I regularly find small fish on the ice from selfish people who don't want them cleaning their hooks. Sometimes makes me wish I had a cell phone. RAP.

Get them to hire $20/hour garbage pickers? lol

GOOD LUCK!!

I'd be happy with 1 garbage CAN at every access site. At least then we could just toss our stuff as we left the ice.

Any idea why the DNR seems to be against garbage cans? The expense to 'pick them up'? The DNR agents do have trucks...so you'd think they could empty the cans/bags into there.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, those people really make me sick.

Have the DNR pay someone to pickup our own trash?
What, so they can raise the fees for licencses?

Its not that hard to pickup your trash and clean up your mess before you leave.

That kind of crap really pisses me off, but when you think about it , it's a small minority who leave there trash behind for others to clean up.

agrees with all posts. i can honestly say the only thing i've left on the ice is a few thousand empty sunflower seed shells and the smell of a skunk from time to time.lol. clean it up

It all begins with good people raising good children.
It is called ethics.
Today we have to many people NOT raising their children.
In nature when a parent turns their back on their offspring, the offsping usually perish thus ending the bad gene pool.
Unfortunately as humans we have found a way around this.

For all of man's wisdom and technology he still owes his very existence to 6" of top soil and the fact that it rains.

I work at a horse farm once a week and I have to walk two miles to get there and most of the walk is by private land yet the landowners don't clean it up so when ever I go up there I bring a garbage bag with me to pick junk up.There are some perks though sometimes I find a full lighter or if I'm really lucky a half eaten cheeseburger Yum!!!!:D Shane

you have got to love this great state full of hillbillies that dump stoves on wheel tracks, and make shingle roads in the woods.
anybody ever notice how much worse it is here than in other states ? toothless freeks leave trash lay around.....in the yard on the road and anywhere else they go
and some of the worst ones are fisherman!!!!well people that go to the lake and try to catch fish..
we will just have to keep picking up after them or the whole place will be a dump...

You think its bad here you should go to some of the southern states. I lived in Louisianna and the people there treat the whole state like one big landfill. So glad to be back in the midwest.

I agree that garbage cans at all the launch sites would be nice.

we could argue for days about who is responsible for all or most of the littering, Its done by rednecks, hillbillies, flatlanders, rich people and poor people, young and old people. they all do it. And we will never stop it, so we may as well just keep carrying our own garbage bags and picking up after these scumbags because chances are they will never learn and unfortinatly they will breed and make more little slobs to carry on there tradition.

I agree though that they do need more trash cans around and also start enforcing the litter laws better but until then just keep pickin up.

every cross section of people does it, just like criminals come from all walks of life, there is no one "type". every now and then the good people have to do more just to keep things nice because you will never get rid of the "others".

I'm a city boy, but i'm a redneck at heart :D
