Next weekend I am going back up to Alpena for a two day hunt. I decided to not take my compound, and to use my recurve. Wish me luck! Hey, will this make me a "traditional hunter" and eligible to join MTBH, even if I do not get a shot? <----<<<

Hey Joe, I was thinking of the same thing. I was lucky enough to draw a permit for does only at Shiawassee National Refuge. I have already shot a big doe this year with the Golden Eagle compound. My permit is for October 31st- November 4th, at which time I'll be on vacation. I'll be carrying my Larry Nirk Legacy Recurve, hopefully to tag my second deer with it. There is a lot of deer there to wait for a close pefect shot. Good luck Baydog

With my luck I will probably have a 12 point, 15 yards away and miss. But heh, everyone has to start somewhere :) <-----<<<

Hey, Joe when can we sign you up!
Hello, Baydog; I am from New Lothrop. I currently live in Howell. I hunted the refuge last season, failed to get a permit this year.

Hi Bishs, sorry to hear you did not get a permit in the mail. I just moved out in this area a couple of years ago, real nice area. I did not get a permit in the mail either. But I did get one at the local draw for people that did not recieve one in the mail. My hunt start tomorrow for five days of doe hunting only. I'm going to use the recurve the first two days. Good luck hunting and next year on the permits. BAYDOG
