I recently took my firts buck. yeah. It was a nick eight point, but not big enough to get a traditional shoulder-mount, but I would still like to get a nice mount. Does anyone have any info on the best and easiest way to perform a skull mount?

See the "Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild" SOTW section on this site. He wrote an excellent article on doing just that.

Whack - I did my first skull mount last year. I shot a non typical 12 point and decided that I would try doing a european mount myself. My wife wouldn't let me spend the money on another shoulder mount, seeing that I had 3 mounts done in the last three years. Anyways, it is quit simple to do but it does require alot of time .Basically, you cut the hide off the head and scrap as much meat off as possible, then boil the skull in hot water for a while. This will make it easier to get the remaining meat off the skull. It will take alot of time to do the scraping but you have to make sure you get every last bit of it off. I cut the tendons that hold the lower and upper jaw together and disposed the lower.
Once you get everything off, cover up the base of the horns (water tight)and soak in straight perioxide instead of bleech. Bleech has a tendency to weaken the bone mass were perioxide does not. Soak till white, make a plaque to mount it to.
It's worth the time you put into it. I got alot of positive comments on it and the best part about it is I did it and that's all it cost me was time.

I did one. It was a pickup and mother nature already did most of the work. I boiled and scraped then boiled and scraped some more. To whiten it I used bleech. I know everyone says don't use it. I mixed a 50-50 mixture of water and bleech. Then I put it in a spray bottle. I covered the horns to keep the spray off. Three spray jobs later I had very good looking skull ready to mount.
