I guess I saw this coming, but still...what a shame!!
The outfitters are going to be hurt by this I would bet. First they loose business over the ilimination of spring bear hunting now their clients have to register their firearms.
I know a lot of guys are just going to say "Heck with it then, I'll just spend my money in the states."

You got it Mike, Been there 3 times in the spring, killed bear twice shot video over my buddy the last time. On the last trip coming home at customs (canadian) our p/u pulling a 16 ft Lund and the Fish & Game officer asks been fishing? I wanted to reply nah truck just goes too darn fast but I knew better. The second question he asked after seeing a quiver of arrows was, been bowhunting ? Naaa, attacked by indians a few miles back. Its like here is your sign. I've had some real good times and met some awfully nice folks North of the border. Now No spring hunt and you have to register your weapons at the border. :( AS far as I'm concerned they can take and build a fence around the whole damn country,I'll spend my money elsewhere. I just don't need the aggravation.

Guy's we knew it was coming.
Here's another one for ya.
Tour busses full of bluehaired tourists from the states pulls up.Of course the border guard gets everybody's ID and does the check on them....well it seems one poor old guy got into a rather nasty bar fight back in 1943 before shipping off to kill Nazi's.
Having been convicted of a crime of violence he cannot legally enter The peoples socialist utopia of Canada....without a pardon...which is payable at the border for $200.00,or the group must turn around.
A good friend in Montana told me about this one,and it seems that it's happening daily now.
NAFTA prohibits a border fee,and our little red Canadian friends have found a way around it.
Consider South Africa for your next trip.
You are issued permits for all your firearms at the airport, and the permit is also a liscense to carry concealed. The exchange rate is 7 to 1,and the accomodations are better than anything Canada has to offer.
In some cases it's cheaper than a Canadian hunt.Kudu is currently $1200.00 from my outfitter, how much is a moose?
Impala is $300.00 how much is a whitetail buck?
Heck the wife and I spent 2 weeks hunting every day,and getting hauled all over every day,ate like kings and drank stuff we couldn't afford here, for a total of 9 Grand including airfare,5 trophy animals, and 2 days tour in Hluhlulewe mfolozi preserve with accomdations in the luxo chalets.
Canada can keep their critters,I'll keep my American dollars and give them to an outfitter in Alaska or a South African.
Pat
