Earlier this year I found a recurve in the bushes on the campus of Wayne State University, where i attend. For those who don't know Wayne State is in the heart of Detroit. This to the least was a strange place to find a bow.

When I found the bow it was in bad condition, so I thought I might fix it up. When I got it home I decided to take the paint off with some striper. In doing this I was surprised to find out that the bow is made of some type of fiberglass, the same stuff the limbs of my compound bow are made of.

My question for you is, weather or not this bow will supply enough power to hunt with. and where can I go to get the suitable bow string?

Thanks,
Deerless

Deerless, you can probably use alot of the information given to Steve on this page when he was looking for a recurve string. If the bow doesnt have a label to tell you the draw weight (usually draw weight at 28 inches). Place the string on a bow scale at an archery shop and pull down until you hit YOUR draw length. I would guess that somewhere around 45 pounds (with correct arrows and broadheads) would be plenty to take a deer if you use careful shot selection. <----<<<

Thanks,

That was just what I wanted to hear. My brother in-law is a slight gentleman, and has trouble pulling my compound set at 60lb back. However I could give him that recurve and he can probably handle the 45lbs.
