The details are on the blog, but it was a rough day on the water to say the least. After a slow start things picked up the last two hours. Had three boats from the tournament trying to pick up a few fish close to home in the area. While they tried to troll up some walleye, we anchored down and finally started to get perch into the cooler. Lost some big fish at the end when we had nothing but three and four inch shiners left in the bucket. They would bite down on the minnow, but never got to the hook, come up, see the boat and let go.

Have had a lot of good luck this year keeping shiners alive with this lil trick, freeze a water bottle or in my case an Open Pit bbq bottle with water in it. Besides the areator, it helps keep the shiners alive in the cold water. Less stress that way, and even when we do have floaters, they seem to keep their scales on longer, so at least you are still getting some flash from the dead ones. hope it helps.

Nice report! Thanks! How stirred up was the water?

It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, just cloudy, not the muck we were fishing in earlier in the spring. supposedly they are getting eyes in the mouth of the river vertical jigging, will take another rod with me next time and see what I can catch.

Like the tip about the water bottle, makes sense.
