Stopped at the Bridge bait shop around 10:00am got the latest info and some bait and headed out a little south of Cotton Rd. Made it out to the preasure crack. and it was a hit and move kind of day. MOve to a different hole it 5 or 6 fish keep 3 (only keep 8" or bigger) Did this till about 3:30pm and came off the ice with 32 nice perch. Mostly all on a white jig with spikes a few on minnows but they were the bigger fish. No open water in sight but still be careful guys the preasure cracks are building and unstable.

Ice was 8" most places 6" right next to the preasure crack. Went out a ways in front of Selfridge ramp and there was 4 to 5". BUT DON'T TRUST MY WORD. Your safety is Your resposibility. Remember we all have families to go home to.

Cotten Rd. is over a mile north of M-59 (Selfridge DNR ramp).
Yes all kinds of Wheelers out there. No snow so creepers are needed if you are walking very far.
And it helps if your front tire is studed.

on weekends you have to pay to park at selfridge. cotton rd is first come first serve, not many places to park, last week they were giving tickets out to people parking on the road, field and across street at mobile station, if u go to cotton rd get there early, and be prepared to I think pay $4.00 at selfridge

George,
Were there any jumbos mixed in there with the ones you kept? I fished there on Sunday morning and had a hard time finding any over 6 or 7 inches.
Thanks for the good report.

All the jumbos I have in my freezer I got last fall following "Gone Fishing" around the lake. Thursdays were 8"to 10" and yes I caught my share of 5" to 6" also.

parking
I have a buddy who rents a hose just north of cotton,it is in walking distance. If you guys are ever in a jam let me know all I need to do is pass on some names. He would have no problem with a couple of us die hards parking there. As a matter of fact I have been parking there the last couple times out to avoid the tickets.I will be out sunday due to the wife having to work tomorrow, and me on child duty.Anyone want to hook up let me know.
good luck fella's and use your heads when it comes to the ice conditions

I am really new to ice fishing but am going to join the masses tomorrow around Cotton Rd. You said watch out for the pressure crack..what exactly do you mean by that...Is there a big hole in the ice starting to form????

Pressure cracks are created along weak spots in the ice. When the ice retracts, a large crack generally forms. When the ice expands, the two ice plates push together until they eventually give way and form a heave. The thing to watch for on LSC is the fact that it generally doesn't freeze all the way accross for long periods of time. These large plates that crack can be blown away resulting in that ever so popular, Coast Guard Rescue.
