I can't believe that after only 9 yrs. of use, it would be time to replace my battery.

Actually, this would be sarcasm. I can't believe that after all of these years without giving me so much as a hint trouble, and all of the abuse I've put this thing through, this is the first time it has began to show it's age.

Do you Vexilar owners unplug your battery everytime you aren't using them like they recommend?

I am curious as to how much wear the terminals have already after only a few months.

I just made up a micro switch that I might mount if it looks like it will help that problem. It is just hanging in the air right now.

I called Vexilar tech support about a month ago because mine was looking dim and he said "I don't care what the manual says, leave it plugged in ALL THE TIME, if you charge it for 5 days it is good to go for over 20 hours of straight use" I must say that my vex has performed the best it ever has after taking his advice. Mine even has an "overcharge" light and I asked him about it and he said it should never come on if it does obviously unplug it. He was right the light has never come on since keeping it pluged in whenever I am not using it.

I have a eagle portable and it's been 6 years on the same set of batteries and with as much as I use it, it's still going strong.

I must confess that I am not the best at reading over manuals. I normally will unhook the alligator clips from the battery when I get home, but I do store it in warm place. The terminals don't look all that bad. I also normally charge it while not in use once over the summer too.

Flyguy, do you really leave yours charging for five days straight? I forgot mine was charging one day and it went over night. When I realized what I did, I checked it and it said "overcharged". So I turned it on and let it run for a few hours until it read "full charge".

What do you guys do with the battery in the off season? I have to put a new battery in mine every year, I have an old FL-8.

I sure would like to get more than (1) season on my battery!

I lost the owners manual a long time ago.

thanks!!
