Those are purty....... Half of my batch is curing right now as i type, and the other half is sitting out to dry in the fridge (didnt cure that half). Hopefully they'll turn out nicely also. I finally have a couple ziploc containers full, so i think i'm gonna start splitting some walleye wig for the next few weeks until the ole' crusties are done doing the DEED. Bring on the brown and chrome :D

have you guys had success with scraped loose eggs? I got a nice hen this year and scraped the eggs best I could. The eggs are in great shape, there is a little membrane skin here and there, but for the most part loose. If you tie a little bit of that skin in bags will it make a difference? I think that membrane skin turns white fast in cold water, not sure if it matters. anyhow, I can't figure out how to post a pic for the life of me, but I did load it into my profile, think these will work in bags this winter?

Here ya' go Samsteel. Don't see anything wrong with those eggs. I call up a second version of the forum, so I have 2 copies on the screen. Then I just copy and paste from the 2nd copy into my reply.

Are you just letting them dry out, or how do you store them to use later. Yep, I don't know a thing about keeping and using eggs, I am reading when I can and have read that Brown trout eggs are the best. rw

i don't really like to use scraped eggs, but sometimes you have too if you haven't gotten your hands on any loose eggs.....and while they are a pain to get out of the skein and a little messier to tie, fish love them. a lot of the time, scraped eggs out fish loose eggs. i let scraped eggs dry out a little, but I like to leave my loose eggs a little wet, so that they roll around each other when tying them up in bags.

also, as far as storing, I just freeze them and use a foodsaver to vacuum seal them to prevent freezer burn. a lot of guys use mineral oil. But I just flash freeze them, then vacuum seal them. yes brown trout eggs are gold!
