hens and shaggy's

always a good feeling when you you see shaggy's as soon as you get on to the 2 track and then see 3 nice hens at the first tree you check:) Checked 3 trees, 7 hens, most were small, 2 around 3 lbs though. Ended up with around 25 shaggy's, left about just as many that were just startin to turn purple around the bottum, coulda salvaged the tops but, o well, be planty more to come yet.

Way to go Sparky!

I tried pickin some shaggys a week ago and even though
I put them in the cooler they never made it to the pan.
Am waiting on cooler weather to try again.
Have picked plenty of hens just road trolling some
lightly traveled dirt roads next to state land and checking
the dead oaks.

the shaggy's can be tuff, they are already in my stomach though:D Along with a few hen pedals cooked in garlic, and just a little butter on the grill in tin foil, yum:) put what i didnt eat immediatly on top of a burger...yummmy;)

MMM! Shaggys!:corkysm55 I've seen afew along the roadsides, but no small fresh ones which I love. One of the best shrooms IMO.

they are right towards the top of my list to roosevelt, there taste is incredible. The texture just isnt the best. I'm gunna go get more tommorow, my one spot normally produces between 100-200 a year from now all the through oct. It's nice when you are draggin out a deer, pick a hen along the way,, then a few shaggy's by the truck. I cant wait:) backstraps and shrooms;)
