Just a real quick one for you today, I'm still trying to catch up on things around here while doing some guiding, but I've got today off and hope to be organized by the end of it! With any luck, and since some fish have shown up, it'll be the last open day for quite a while, but as of right this moment I've still got August 31st, September 1st, 4th, 6th & 8th open to be booked. (John also has September 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th.)
John pretty much summed it up in his report on the 25th in that the Kings are here in fishable numbers, but you need to know the right areas to look in with fish shifting around a bit and some very large voids in the system yet. There are pods in pretty much every section, but not in a "game on" kind of way just yet unless you happen to be one of the lucky anglers in the right spot at the right time.
We are seeing pushes of fresh fish thru the far lower river just about daily now, but that proverbial wall of fish has yet to show up and a decent day even down there consist of getting into a couple or more with only a few boats occasionally going double digits on the "honest" hookups just yet. (Have heard of some 30 or 40 "hookup" days mid river already, but I guess it only takes a few fish in a pod to accomplish that if you don't care how.)
I haven't personally been trout fishing, but the word I got from a couple of guides and some decent anglers well known to me is that it continues to be good on just about all fronts. At this point I'm pretty well geared toward Kings with hardware and having a blast doing it, but if someone wants to fill an open void with a trout trip it most certainly wouldn't break my heart...
A big huge thanks to the guys I've had the past couple of days for a great kick off to the season. Some father and son combinations are always hard to beat and Joe, you can bring back the bosses son Austin any day he wants to! I wish we could have landed them all, but it's a real blast just having it handed to you by a bundle of power down there right now, here's a couple of shots...

Here's Joe and Austin with one that didn't get the best of us early morning.

I'm going leave it at that for now and get busy getting caught up on other things, but I do "plan" to keep you more informed more often from here on out. (Not that there's any lack of other reports to look at these days...)
I still haven't had a chance to contact all our previous destination folks to see who wants to lock in a spot for Alaska, Argentina or, new this year, a Bahamas trip, but I will very soon (Hopefully be today's end!) and open it all up to everyone after that. Anyone wanting more info on any of this can however, call the shop and leave some contact info...
If you haven't read this year's Alaska trip report yet it can be found right here... (http://www.fishbaldwin.com/Reports/Reports.cfm?author=Steve&report_id=1286&archive=report)
Tight lines all,
Steve
