View Full Version : Prayers Needed

Friends, I hate to impose on you, but I must ask for your prayers, for....

RAIN.

This has been a miserable foodplotting year at my place. Ever since things dried out enough to plant my soybeans on July 1, we never got one single rain of consequence until last week. 3.25 acres of soys were a complete and tragic bust, and over $600 in seed/fertilizer/herbicides down the drain. On one of the 2a. failed plots, I replanted austrian winter peas this past Saturday. It threatened rain all day, but it never materialized. As a general rule, I can create drought anytime, anywhere, simply by putting seed in the ground.

Tomorrow morning, scattered showers are forecast. Tomorrow evening, showers. I need it to materialize, badly. Without rain tomorrow, I can see 6-8 arid weeks, in which case, I will face ruin.

I appreciate your help.

Funny, it's been raining like crazy up here for the past two months. Best weather for plotting that I can remember in a number of years. Try switching to Deism. ;):D:lol::evilsmile

Sorry my friend but 'jonney weather man' is not putting his money on the percentages... Of course as wrong as he often is that should be good news but, as you know, Murpheys Law-Karma-Rain Gods- are never on your side with seed in the ground. If it makes you feel any better I'll be playing the same dance with the devil game in a week or two with my WW.

Nevertheless my heathen friend- I will pray for you and your food plots. ;)

I believe there's a bible passage, somewhere, that addresses your taunt.;)

Make plans to put in another Plot and it will for sure rain. Every time I try to put a plot in it rains.

Sorry about your luck FL. I couldnt ask for a better growing season on our property by Houghton Lake. Rains every 3-5 days it seems. Brassicas are doing great, sorghum and soybeans (what isnt getting browsed) are as well !!!

For the plotters in the NLP, another storm system is rolling through right now :)

May the drought continue forever in Hillsdale and all those bucks that FL has been passing for all those years move over to my side of the state.

How’s that for a prayer?

55 gal drums and a gas powered pump, maybe.

Will do. Sometimes God answers prayer in his own time and way, but he does answer them.

That's amazing its that dry at your place. I have been getting good rains all summer. I can't remember a summer like this. Cool, and no dry spell. The trees and shrubs are going bonkers... Everything is booming with soft mast, never seen so much fruit and berries. Ten years ago, I took a couple Zumi crabapple seedlings and gave them to a friend. He planted them in his yard 1 mile from me. I stopped over yesterday, one of his Crabapples is 15-18 feet tall, and the top three large branches snapped off from all the berries. I have a lot of crab apples that have all their limbs bowing down to the ground with weight..

Rain? All it's done in the EUP is rain. If it hasn't been raining it's been cool and overcast. My plots have not dried out since the snow melted. I put my plots in the latest I ever have but last year taught me a lesson that I can still get good plot when seeds germinate by September 1st.

Our rain totals are behind an average year but when it does rain we get a lot. Last week while at camp we received nearly 3" but fortunately it came right after all my plots were in. :)

If you are going to pray for FL please be specific with the location. Thanks. :D

FL - ever since I spent the afternoon with you in Tecumseh, it has been raining on and off here about every other day. Last weekend, we had a 36 hour drizzle!!!:D You must have rubbed off on me! Up until then we had a 7 week drought!

I know the feeling, we went from really bad to lots of moisture and many of the farmers around me lost much of their corn crop, but the soys are now recovering. It was too late for the corn.

I planted my corn about 2 weeks behind all of them and just at tassling stage it got good moisture. Although the ears aren't the greatest for market, they will more than suffice for the deer.

You still have plenty of time and the rainy season is now upon us. You cannot recover what you have lost, but you sure can make up for it in a short period of time if the weather cooperates for you.

I will pray and hope you get what we had an abundance of in the past two weeks. Funny how that works though, as we will fall back into a drought again and you will be flooded! I recall 16" in 2 days last Sept, and I hope that does not happen to you this year!:yikes:

Karma is a bitch. If you would have planted brassicas yesterday, then you would expect early morning rains today!

I must be livin right! It's raining and we look to be in nice weather pattern for more today.
The radar shows the rain coming into the state near the ST. JOE area and heading NE toward VERMONTVILLE. The lower edge appears to be just north of Hillsdale County.:D

Checked to weather-in-motion function on weather.com, and it looks like this system is going to completely miss me to the north. To add profound insult to already grievous injury, it's raining here in Northville.

Must be retribution for something my ancestors did.

I will avoid mentioning what it is doing outside right now, and in a big way!:sick: I meant to direct it in a more southernly direction.

I will bet you 20#s of forage sorguhm that you get a good shower today (and not inside your home ) and over 1/4" of rain!

The last few systems that came through here seemed to be splitting right over the middle of Branch county. We've been lucky here (recently), but I could see how the Hillsdale area could have the rain go both north and south of them without getting much.

I tis reaining here at Somerset Lake, so at least the most extreme NE edge of Hillsdale County is wet! I would guess your place is getting some of this from the looks of things.

We've received a little bit here in the past 12 hours FL.

But no worries, because Matthew 5:45 says that ... He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

As far as rain goes, it looks like you're eventually covered either way;).

Looks like you got about a 1/4" FL. Better than nothing. I looked at the 24hr precip. map. We got.............................0.0" 1 mile north of us is where the rain started.
Can't complain though, last week we got hammered.:)
