sunday my friend cought a 7 lb salmon out of the rifle river. lets hope its a good run this year, the last few years were pretty slow.

Nice, would be good if the big lake run browns showed up this year. Haven't been up there in awhile, but used to be good place away from areas like the Ausable with all the crowds.

There is actually some water this year! The last 4-5 years the water has been really low in the fall east of us-23 in omer. The holes i fish for steelhead and browns have been ankle deep every fall. Things are looking better this year.

That is because the lake (Huron) level is up quite a bit this year. Water flows downhill, and when the lake level is higher, it backs the rivers up, and they are a bit deeper. We had about 10 years where the annual rainfall was far below average in northern MI. It really had a negative impact on fishing after the first few years.
