View Full Version : Croton Dam
I was back to Croton on Wed. Still a lot of small perch in the 4-6 inch range, but did manage to get about 20 to take home. biggest was a 12 1/2 in. with 6 more about 10 in. the rest were 7-9 in. I was fishing out from the Island in 15 to 20 ft. of water with a 1/8 oz Forage Minnow Spoon with mousies and spikes.

Which island were you fishing by? Where did you walk on at? There is 2 islands on the small side one has a building on it and the other one don't.
Thanks
Tim
It is the one with the small building on it. A friend of mine lives right behind the Island so we park at his place, it's not as far to walk. We are fishing the west side of the Island , there is a big flat about 15 ft. deep , I caught the bigger ones just of the break in 20 ft.

My parents used to have a place at Croton, but on the other side of the causeway. We are planning a day trip there this month but are unsure of ice conditions. How thick was the ice and was it good on both sides? Thanks in advance for the info!

There is 6-8 inches of ice on the small side Croton and just a skim of ice on the large side. Hopefully with the cold weather we have approaching us we can get some decent ice on the other side to along as we don't get to much snow.
Good Fishing

Glad to hear there at least some keepers there!
I was there W/E B4 last & got nothin' but dinks...(kept 4)
Population wise how was it for people -- just a few like last time or is it turning into a madhouse yet???
(I know weekends are a lot busier - but it looks like I will be having fridays off for a while - or half days...)
Thought I'd ask -- thanks for any info you might offer ,

When I was there on Wed. there was only 4 people fishing in the area we were at. We went to Wabasis Lake on Sat.and only got a few good size perch and Blue gills, will try to make it back to Croton some time this week and post the results. There are nice size perch at Croton but you have to keep moving to find them even if you are getting a lot of fish.Wed I caught 10 fish in about 5 minutes all 7-8 inches, I moved to find some bigger fish, my brother thought I was crazy for moving, but I brought home 25 nice perch and he threw all of his back because they were too small.Keep moving, I drilled 30-40 holes and only found bigger fish in 4 of them.
