Lake Erie Metro Park

Any one fished Lake Erie Metro Park. I usually fish Kent Lake, but would sure like a place closer to home until Breast Bay freezes.

Where would you fish in the park

At the marina on the southend of the park Andy.

In the marina area. The report from the newspaper says panfish are biting. Never fished it myself but can imagine it gets crowded, close to home though.

I forgot. I've been there many times this year. Never catch anything there.

I've never had any luck there either. Did see one guy pulling dink after dink through the ice one time.

If it helps the guy at Horse Island bait store told me the only safe ice he knows of is on the south end of Grosse Isle and the banana dyke.

Not good to hear. Maybe I'll stick with my first choice and try Wolverine Lake

Talked to the guy at the bait shop right outside the entrance to the park yesterday, 01/08/03. He said that they were catching panfish in the middle of the channel leaving the marina. He did say not to get too close to the mouth right now, ice a little thin out there.

I always fish in the channel, Every where else is only a foot or so deep. Most of the fish are dinks. Very few keepers.

Actually I bought minnows to go down behind the hospital, when I got down there the ice just wasn't safe. It's supposed to snap cold here again and when it does I'll be down there for sure, I've heard that they were catching some nice ones down there a couple of weeks ago, when there was decent ice. As soon as there is good ice down there I will post.

I never fished the marina in like 2 years. Back then, you would catch 10 inchers almost every minute, it was great !!!!! Never fished it because i've heard it's slowed alot. Went to the marina at the hospital 2 days ago. There was 5 people in a group out there. The had 3 small perch on the ice. But said that they had the aqua view down there and have been seeing jumbo perch, huge crappies, and bass and carp down there, but wouldn't bite. when we left, i bee thtey started to bite.

Did very well in airport bay a couple years ago, and did very well. Always did well at banana dike, too.
