And he drove my car 6 miles with the parking brake on to boot!! I wont name names cuz im not that kind of guy but damn, be careful when hiring these people. Waste of 20 bucks! But on top of this, TU stretch was banging! Lots of fish in here, Only wish i had stopped along the way to fish, made my first stop for lunch, looked up and there was my car, ****....

Kinda funny actually!!! And why didn't you ask or investigate further on the float time etc...call any canoe livery in any area and they will tell you what the float times are--fishing float or recreational float time. Ask on here too. Plus the liveries will most likely spot a car for you as well. Seems like an odd story, considering you had no idea where you were floating too? I guess lucky you stopped for lunch or you still might be floating:evil:

Gee, if I had planned to float a river for 4 hours, and got to my destination in 1:20, I probably would paddle around for awhile longer. Downstream, back upstream, fishing etc. But that is just me.
Dude spotted your car, which is what you paid him for. Sorry bout the e-brake thing. Something about this reminds me of "The 7 P's." Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. Next time make a better plan. And take 2 cars, so you don't need to pay anyone to spot you.

One of the best investments I made was in a good GPS and software. Mark my takeout and put in, track myself down the river. Shows me where I am, how far I've traveled and how far to go. Keeps me pretty much on track.:)

Nice! Keep your attitude down in Alma, we don't need you or your attitude on the river. Typical, blame somebody else for your poor planning.

I would think if you pay somebody for a car shuttle you could get a little info but that is not always the way it works around here on the Au Sable. Many take your money and give out nothing but BS or cut you down for asking a question. Kaboobie if you need any info on the Au Sable in the future just email to contact info on web site below and we can help you on any float times or questions regarding the Au Sable.

I would think that if you left your boat at the beginning, had the person follow you down to where YOU want to get out, and then rode back with the car porter, then you would both get it where you wanted the car.

Try this next time.....Put in where you want to take out, and paddle upstream for half the time you've planned. You'll definately make it back to car in the other half or less;) If your in a canoe alone, try sitting in center, and use a kayak paddle. Not as hard as you would think to go upstream unless your going through fast rapids. Alot easier with 2 people though. If you don't buy a center seat to put in your canoe, alot of times if they have the flat ones, the front seat sits back quite a ways. Depending on type of canoe, they are much easier to sit in the front seat with canoe bakward and paddle also;) Used to do this with an old town Appalachain.
