Ed I have never been there but I am hearing they are catching nice fish in Cooks Bay. Where are you staying and are you renting a hut. I am going within the next month. Look forward to hearing your results.

There are perch all over the place at Simcoe and it's a huge lake, bigger than St. Clair and deeper. We typically go to Virginia Beach, Georgina Island and Snake Island. Cooks Bay is also real popular. However, there are people banging perch all over the place.

I would recommend you go to their website and read their message board for the hot bite and other handy info:

The problem w/ going w/ a Hut operator is they usually don't move you if the bite is off. It IS convenient w/ them because you only need your rods and reels, while they provide the hut, transporation to and from, sometimes even bait and cleaning. However, perch roam and if the fish aren't there, you're screwed. If you have the gear already (portable shanties, augers and ideally a quad or snowmobile) you're much better off staying mobile. You can see where the Hut Operators have their shanties as you can see clusters all over the lake. So, you can swing by and see how their clients are doing and fish amongst them.

The one thing is for sure, you go to Simcoe once and you'll be back!!!!!!! It is truly awesome!

Good Luck!

Most of the guys that I know that do well up there stay mobile. When I have rented huts, it's been hit and miss. Have fun and good luck!

Edit: Gordob, I must have been still typing when you hit the send button. I'll leave this post here to emphasize the staying mobile.
