Over here at SW side we are glad to see the cold coming too. Maybe Muskegon Lake and White Lake will completely ice over. It's about time:)

Seems like most of the lakes down here and up north can take at least one warm day and still be safe. Today might actually make for a nice comfortable day of ice fishing. Too bad I can't go.

I'm kinda liking this warm weather for a day or 2,
might melt the snow around the DNR launch & keep the snowmobilers from buzzing the shanty. Hopefully, it will re-freeze nice & clear so you can walk around out there and actually see weedbeds and perch scattering about. That's how clear it was a couple weeks ago......I'm a snowmobiler also, but it just doesn't mix well together with fishin'........:(

Usually when it thaws and freezes the "new" ice is a clouds white at least in patches. Which is bad for searching out the weedbeds, (my prefered way to fish) It has its positives also especially when it is really sunny the clear ice doesn't see to produce too well sometime.

I agree witt Joe_G' thought's. This will put a damper on the snowmobilers( compare them to jet skis at times),he he, and extend the "quiet time" fishing. Once that pendulum swings far enough to make ice, it will take temps like this without ruining it.

Today, it's in the 40s, tomarrow, It'll be in the mid 30s, then we're in for a deep freeze. An artic blast will come in and temps will be in the low 20s and high teens, and the lows in the lower teens, to high 0s, so we're in for a good freeze!!! The best freeze of the year, so far. Lake St.Clair should probaily freeze all the way over with thick ice before it's all said and done, and even ice on lake erie.

There was a "base" layer of ice around Metro on the lake side but it wasn't very think. Hopefully it held up through today and w/o any snow to insulate it, by the weekend the lake should be good to go.

Hopefully the winds will be light that goes a long way toward making ice on the lake.
