Took these this morning here at work...and because my friend the art director said I shouldn't let them sit there, if they are indeed chanterelles, I ran out on my lunch hour and ended up with almost a pound, I'd say. About 30 shrooms, left the old ones behind. I also found another group, took the younger ones. From the smells of the woods, and what I saw today that I didn't see last night, this is only the beginning.

I picked about 4 pounds of the gold chanterelles, oak trees in my area are few and far between without doing a lot of driving, so basically, that was all from one spot. Then we had a heat spell, and even more rain, and the golds got huge and full of slugs...so...I did find a handful of cinnabars, and enjoyed those even more than the golds. Never did find any trumpets, unfortunately. And now I think we've gotten so much rain that the mushrooms have all drowned. And some very cool weather...so now I'll try to find the elusive hens...it was fun, tho, looking forward to next summer, if we get enough rain, which we usually never do!

A friend of mine who used to be on this board a lot found his first chants, too, and a whole bunch of black trumpets as well, enough that he sold 8 pounds to a local gourmet restaurant...he also found it entertaining in the summer.

You guys call it the "dark side", huh? LOL
