I was out on Lake Chemung fishing with my friends when some snowmobiles were racing back and forth up and down the lake. My one buddy says that it doesnt hurt the fishing. I myself thought that it would. What are your thoughts ??

I think they do scare fish. You can feel it shaking the ice from 100' away. And ice carries noise. They also create a shockwave that grows and surely spooks fish.

Had the same thing happen on a lake a few years ago. A group of guys were out tweaking their sleds. Everytime they'd race by, we'd start catching 'gills. We were about ready to give them gas money to keep riding. LOL:)

Can't say that ever remember catching fish when jet skis, I mean snowmobiles were zipping by. I can remember giving them all of the credit , though, for NOT catching fish when they were around. Got to blame something. I know it's not MY fault when I can't catch a fish. :D

Does a bear crap in the woods?

Any noise will spoke or scare most species away.
My 2 cents!

I have never caught fish with a sled running past my ice shanty. Not for sure if its the Sled or just my fishing spot.:D

I'm absolutely convinced that they scare 'em. One example, lake Cadillac or Mitchell, early morn the fish will be in the usual spots, then once the circus starts, they'll all move to the deepest holes in the lake to avoid the noise.............
