I like the Frabill with the high-walled sled and the built in seat. Can't recall the model but that is the one I would buy if I didn't already own several shanty's.

a really nice flip over is the shoremaster. the name isn't that big yet but i hhave sold the fish trap for about 4 yrs now and this thing is as good or better.
i don't know who would sell them in your area. you can try to see if they have a web site. the co. name is shoremaster fabric inc.

I have a Fish Trap that I'm happy with but most I have seen from Frabil, Otter etc, all look good and have nice features, just depends on what you like and which one you can get the best price on.

Thanks for the response, I ended up with a "snoboat" I believe Frabill makes it but it is black canvas instead of the blue material. Two seat model similar to the guide model and it weighs about 60 lbs. but for the fishing I do it should work well.

I was just in Dunhams in Burton and they have the Eskimo II (green canvas) for $199.00, marked down from $249.00.

It's made by The Clam. Nice setup by the way.

Did you get the full height one or the half height?

I've had a snoboat 3 for several years now and it's a real good shanty...clam bought the original mfgr out, I bought mine from the original guy....they make covers that go over the shanty when collapsed and it protects it from your gear and other wear and tear.....nice shanty

The height looks ajustable but I would have to say it is only half height. Plenty of room inside for two. I also saw a cover to put over it but did not buy it. I have a scrap piece of boat cover that maybe the beter half will sew to fit, but have to wait for her to get over me buying it in the first place.:)

One thing I would do now that it is new is get yourself a shanty anchor for it. It is a bad feeling watching your shanty blow away 40mph down the ice full of your gear.

Banditto yeah, sure is a sinking feeling when they start kiteing across the lake. I plan on making one out of some conduit.

Last year when my shanty tipped it dumped my minnow bucket which had about a dozen suckers when suckers were hard to find. I hate that!

I like any shanty that is sealed at the bottom . owned a clam not sealed. Too much wind or playing with the straps . I also like black, to block the light. sometimes half the fun is seeing the fish. when in a store looking at them, sit in them close it up and look for light . 2x in daylight. on light windy days I bring an old glove to place under my 2 man (when it's slick ice) the glove freezes and works . on wind days. dril a hole in the bottom and screw a spike to the ice. good luck. by the way next year you'll see a better shanty and next. ect.
