in Saginaw it is frozen over again. Down along the point there is some open water, but for the most part it froze. Its suppose to be warmer today but the warmup shouldnt affect the ice. TV 5 weather this morning said single digits lows by the weekend, so that will really help. I imagine probably by mid next week people will be fishing the river again. I hope we have good ice for the tournement!!!!!!!! Anyone signing up?

You have to have snow to have run off! We havent had much snow!!!!!!

I drove down by the river just a little bit ago. The bean tower was still froze. I drove over the Holland st Bridge, and Hooters was froze as well as along Ojbway Island. If she can hold in there tonight (as I type this my temp reader says 41 degrees). We should have ice for the tourney. Looking at the weatherchannel.com 10 day forecast it predicts cold weather for a while. But can we trust the weather man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do your cold weather dance!!!!:D :D :D :D

I live in Saginaw, and have a creek on my property, yesterday all the ice dissappeared and the water level was up a few inches, these creeks dump into rivers, this is called runoff, also my sump has been running more the past couple days, Where is this water goin to ,Riverboy?..

Its going to the river but I wouldnt call that lots of run off. The snow that was on the ground was what maybe a inch or so. I dont believe that the small amount of run off would affect a river as large as the Saginaw River. But if the runoff from your creek does break up the ice, I hope you live downstream from I-675 Bridge. I like to fish in the downtown area or along Wicks Drive.
We will have to fish it some time seeing how we are both from Saginaw!!!!!!!

I havent seen the river today except for it being on tv5 weather background at noon. It had survied the night time warmth. Now if it can survie the rest of the day untill the cold front comes in it should be allright. I can imagine you will see people fishing it in 4 or 5 days. Sticking to my 2 day rule that will be about a week(like Tom said   ).

Riverboy, My property is actally upstream...I was in Baycity today, and there were some firemen doing some type of procedure at Vets park, I watched one walking on the ice about 75 yds from shore with a safety rope, ...When I came back through there about an hour later, I could see where the ice was broken up, I don't know if he fell through or if they broke it on purpose...This cold weather is just what we need...

Went over the river in Bay City today and it looks ROTTEN. With luck, this cold weather will firm up the ice and make some new stuff soon.

I'm also scared <bleep>less by the current in there. A few years ago, I stepped in a hole that had froze over and had snow on it. I went in just past my knee and could feel the water tugging on my leg.

Crossing the Johnson street bridge last night after work.(11:00) The river looked like it was iced over, no open water. Down by Ojibway Is. looked iced over. Wednesday in Bay City I saw 2 guys on the ice near the Essexville train bridge. I fished at Sunset Shores marina out by the river mouth, and caught a few small perch, and my buddy had a walleye on until his line snapped. The Bay looked iced over from the mouth of the river, but don't know how thick. No one was on the river by the DNR launch.
