Since the switch to digital TV I have been searching for a small 7" flat screen portable TV for my remote cabin. I finally found one at a resonable price. Has anyone in the White Cloud area used one, if so are you able to pickup any stations. man, never thought i would say this but i miss not having my little analog portable at the cabin especially at night or this fall when the football games are on. Thanks in advance for any input.

All I have to say is the switch to digital ruined tv viewing in fringe areas. The only way to get weak station is with an outside antenna, mounted high up. I bought a 19" Lcd tv and with an indoor antenna and got only 2 station, I hooked up an outside DB4 HDTV antenna and now I get 8 stations. So if you only get a couple stations with the new tv, when before you got 4-6 stations it not the tv it the antenna.

I been told many portable TV's have been returned to the store where bought because customers unhappy with reception and or lack of stations. Where i bought mine it was a return, So i think you are spot on i will test it out this weekend or next. keep you posted.

Took the tv up to the cabin this past weekend and could not receive a single channel either indoor/out. I will attempt to try a external antenna used inside or out. does anyone have a recommend i seen a number available on line but looks like a crap shoot.

I would use this link and click on "Choose an antenna". Then punch in your address at cabin. This will give you an idea what if any channels you can receive.? Plus will point you in a direction for antenna.

I do have to ask ?? That TV does have a digital receiver correct ?

Another option for an antenna is to make your own. Here is a link to youtube video. I use one like this in my woodshop and works fine. Better then neighbors $75 store purchased unit... Or search for DIY HDTV antenna...

Thanks to malainse, I was able to locate the you tube clip on how to build a digitial antenna and construct one. Once i got to the cabin I held up the antenna moved around in the direction of the signals per the station locator website and could not believe my eyes 5 stations scanned in. Once i locked them in brought the unit into the cabin found the found the right spot all 5 stations came in crytal clear. I actually have more stations now then i did with the old analog.

P.S. my wife thought i was crazy to make this silly looking coat hanger antenna let alone would it work, boy was she singing a different tune after i located the 5 channels. Thanks again malainse

Digital reception is bad in day almost to 0. West Branch area. Gets real good at about 9pm. I heard it has something to do with sun. I bet it has pushed alot of people to buy satelite. But I hate to pay the extra money if you go up to a cabin every other week. I wish they still had analog.

Get yourself a high band VHF and a good bean UHF antenna (about 100 bucks total) and put them up on a 15' pole pointing towards GR and I get you will get more stations than you used to get.
